DeM Training for Trainer

Objectives

To disseminate the DeM Training for Trainers Program blended by Experiential Learning & Critical Pedagogy and strengthen educators’ competencies in experiential learning.

Success

  • After the first implementation of DeM Training for Trainers Program in 2016, program has been implemented three more times and reached to 108 educators from 13 countries.
  • Experiential Learning Training for Trainers Program is developed for Turkish Ministry of Education’s Non Formal Education Programs.

Turkish Translations

Purposes

  • Translating Experiential Learning resources to Turkish.
  • Turkish translation of education and learning methods.
  • Compilation of experiential learning publications in Turkish literature.

Success

  • We have translated Kolb’s new 9 Learning Style Inventory into Turkish.
  • We have translated Kolb Educational Role Profiles.
  • We have translated the Concept of Experiential Learning Spaces into Turkish.
  • We have prepared DENEYIMSELOGRENME.COM for Turkish resources and tools.

Digitalization

Purposes

  • Digitalizing Experiential Learning resources and transferring them to e-learning environments.
  • Making digital learning tools and e-learning systems based on experiential learning.

Success

  • An experiential learning-based program using VR technology for teacher education was developed within the scope of the Project of Experiential Learning and Integration of Virtual Reality in Gifted Education, which is the participation of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University.
  • Experiential Learning Based E-Learning Working Group was created.

Non Formal Education

Purposes

  • Development of experiential learning methodology for adults.
  • Supporting the development of non-formal education trainers.
  • Dissemination of non-formal education.
  • Strengthening the dialogue between non-formal education and formal education.

Success

  • We developed a theoretical and practical synthesis od Kolb’s Experiential Learning Theory and Paulo Freire’s Pedagogy of the Oppressed.
  • With the Dialogue for Non-formal Education project, we started a structural cooperation with the Ministry of National Education General Directorate of Lifelong Learning.

Formal Education

Purposes

  • Development of experiential learning methodology for formal education lessons.
  • Supporting teachers’ professional development.
  • Development and dissemination of programs to support students’ personal social skills.
  • Strengthening the dialogue between non-formal education and formal education.

Vocational Education

  • Increasing intersectoral and interdisciplinary cooperation for vocational education.

Success

  • We made Referee Education Programs transformed to experiential learning based through Referee Education Project run bu Turkish, German, French and Italian Basketball Federations.

Sport

Purposes

  • Development of experiential learning methodology for sports education.
  • Increasing the use of sports as a method in experiential learning.
  • Raising awareness on sports values.
  • Supporting the professional development of sports educators.

Success

  • An education and transformation model was developed for Fan Violence as a result of the project run by Turkish Basketball Federation.
  • We’ve lunched a new international project named Experiential Learning through Sport Education.

Youth Works

Purposes

  • Dissemination of experiential learning in youth works.
  • Development of twenty-first century skills of young people.
  • Increasing the capacity of youth workers.

Success

  • We established DeM Student Clubs in Marmara and Medipol Universities in Istanbul.
  • We organize international youth exchanges and training courses every year for free mobility of young people.
  • We are conducting a long-term international project to develop the game methodology in youth work.
